Read Aloud. Read A Lot. is an important tool for building children's interest in reading. Our goal is to provide resources and information to parents and caregivers on how to read aloud to children.

I get out a kick out of reading aloud to my 3-year-old son. He wants to read one story over and over. At some point, he starts "reading" to me just from hearing the story so much.
One of the greatest joys I had as a parent was to nestle between my children and read and read and read to them. Often, I would read the newspaper to them at breakfast just so I could (1) read the paper and (2) keep them entertained.
We always read to our children, especially before bed to get everyone to wind down. As every parent knows, for weeks if not months at a time, the kids would ask to be read the same book. One of my favorite memories of their childhood is Mike (the Dad) dozing off in the middle of reading bedtime stories and the kids waking him up every few pages to finish the story.
